American Idol Season 11 Top 13 Guys

Well, we're back to the voting again...who had the bright idea to drag Hollywood and Vegas out so long, thus giving us just one week to chop the top 24 down into the top 13?
The guys were mostly disappointing, but there were a few bright spots. The judges were way too nice....we need Simon back, they need lots of scathing criticism!
Anyway, that aside, in order of performance....

Reed Grimm - Moves Like Jagger - It reminded me a lot of Casey Abrams, I guess that would be jazzy, sort of? It was slightly boring and safe, his voice was a little off, too scratchy. The drumming was a cool touch, though.

Adam Brock - Think - His personality is awful. Who would vote for a guy like that? The song was kind of cool, his phrasing was odd. Not a fan. HOW did he get ahead of David, or Richie, or several other guys I can't think of at the moment?

DeAndre Brackensick - Reasons - The high note at the end was kind of neat, too much falsetto, the lyrics were incomprehensible the whole way through, it was ninety seconds that couldn't end fast enough. We NEEDED Simon on this one.

Colton Dixon - Decode - Good. It sounded commercial, he has stage presence, I didn't really like the song all that much, but I enjoyed his performance of it. He sounds radio-ready. And he's just a good guy!

Jeremy Rosado - Unknown Song - Ordinary good voice, not competition good voice, maybe a movie soundtrack, but not radio.

Aaron Marcellus - Never Can Say Goodbye - He was all right. Seemed way too casual up on stage, that last note wasn't good, overall it was very forgettable.

Chase Likens - Storm Warning - I kind of like this song, but I didn't like his version of it. Maybe it was because he was just singing, instead of playing all those instruments Hunter Hayes does in the video, I don't know, but it was firmly okay.

Creighton Fraker - True Colors - It was rough. I like the song, he started out all right, but then - His voice decided to run over some of those South Dakota gravel roads.

Phillip Phillips - In The Air Tonight - Good song choice. It was a lot lower-key than I though it'd be, it was a good arrangement, but it seemed a little safe.

Eben Franckewitz - Set Fire to the Rain - He's funny, and likable, but he's just so young...not much on the song, but he has a good voice, the chorus was a little iffy. Honestly, he was kind of forgettable...he might be in trouble.

Heejun Han - Angels - How does he do it? So dorky offstage, so polished on. Very good.

Joshua Ledet - Pull Me Through - He's a black church singer. He might be a nice guy in real life, but I just hate that style of music!!!!! Yawning all the way through.

Jermaine Jones - Dance with my Father - WHAT THE HECK!??!?!?!?!?! Of those four, you bring back JERMAINE??!!!!! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING???? (Can't tell that I'm unhappy, can you?) UGH. Not just because we had to endure more of his talking about his mother, etc, or his ridiculously deep tones, but when you had Richie, who exuded confidence to go with an okay voice, who would have had some good soundbytes, David, who was a great people person and could snap votes up like that, or even Johnny, who, though forgettable, was better than Jermaine. But no....do they listen to me? Do they chew out contestants when they need chewing out? No...Do they linger unnecessarily through Hollywood/Vegas only to speed through to the top 12? Yes....that decision sucks, whoever made it, by the way...

The five who go straight through will be: Colton. Heejun. Phillip. Reed. And Eben, barely.

Will the girls do much better tonight? I doubt it...hoping Hollie and Skylar come up with some crazy good songs that lock them into the safety of the chairs.
