End of August

A couple weeks ago I found this interesting article published on ESPN's website, which originally was printed in ESPN The Magazine, about this football player who quit the 49ers after his rookie season and retired because he was afraid of future brain damage.
With football season starting this week for colleges all across the country and high schools across Oklahoma, it seemed like a good time to share.

Teaching Oedipus on Friday in Lit Traditions went pretty well, I guess. Over the weekend I raced through J.K. Rowling's first Harry Potter book and Jack Schaefer's Shane, besides getting homework done. (Taming of the Shrew is really hard to follow...reading Edgar Guest as homework isn't bad, though.)

Good to visit home last weekend; Rags and the dogs were really happy. So were the people. And I was able to be at GBC for the first time in a while, that was good. The DeSpains gave me a ride back.

Forced myself out into the world of socialization for about an hour on Monday and Tuesday nights, Monday at the RSU BCM and then Tuesday at Chi Alpha.
In NSU BCM news, things are going well. Elizabeth is in Broken Arrow this semester; but Daniel and Bucky have things under control. Also, Ja Li Si is dating Samantha's brother, which is cool.
And Sarah Gaston was the latest person I knew to get married, guess that happened over the weekend. Cody Wright is working in the Oklahoma City Police Department now, I think. Pretty much lost touch with everybody from the Okmulgee homeschool group.

The weather has been really pleasant for late August; humid and rainy in the mornings, then bright sunshine in the afternoons.
